"And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God."    Luke 18: 15,16.

  Why do we have a Nursery?

There are three good reasons why we have a nursery at Bensalem Baptist Church. First, and foremost, it is good for the child. The auditorium services are not intended for children since they are far beyond their level of understanding. It is natural at their age that they soon respond by becoming fidgety. The nursery however, provides a safe, monitored environment, enabling the development of necessary preschool social skills by supervised interaction (play) with those of their own age group, preparing  them for more structured services later on. This is the time to start proper training. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 22:6 to "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Second, use of the nursery allows you to give your full attention to what the Lord has for you during the service, without the distraction of attending to the needs of a child. Finally, your use of the nursery allows others in the service to be fully attentive to worship and preaching without distraction. Wouldn't it be a tragedy for someone to miss hearing or understanding the Gospel because of a young one making distracting sounds? Keep in mind that Satan may use even defenseless children to interfere with the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Even quiet toddlers can become a distraction just by making eye contact or smiling at someone.

We desire to minister to your children at their level while you are ministered to in church. All of our nursery workers are pre-screened, adult, female members of the church. Protective, disposable gloves are used for diaper changing. Hands are always washed and changing tables thoroughly cleaned after each changing. All nursery spaces are designed with comfort and safety in mind. Equipment and toys are cleaned and undergo regular safety inspection. The snacks provided -juice and cookies- are of the best quality. However, you can specify that only the items you leave with them are exclusively given. For the good of everyone, sick children are not accepted for placement in the nursery. If your child cannot be accepted into the nursery due to minor illness, you can sit with him or her in the rear of the auditorium, behind the glass partition, on folding chairs. The ushers will be happy to accommodate you. Behind the glass partition you will be able to see and hear everything without being a distraction to others. Please do not take a sick child into the auditorium.
